Clever and practical design takes Gold Award for Best Exhibit

Challenge

Proud Poppy Clothing enlisted the services of Creative Hire to bring their inaugural ‘imitation’ retail pop-up activation to life at The Sydney Royal Easter Show in Sydney Olympic Park, taking place in April 2023. As Australia’s largest annual ticketed event, the show drew an average of 900,000 attendees this year, whilst serving as a vibrant celebration of culture, encompassing rural traditions and contemporary lifestyles.

Driven by the desire to captivate the audience and drive brand awareness, Proud Poppy envisioned a stylish and attention-grabbing pop-up store to showcase a curated selection of their fashion range. The brand wanted to take take advantage of the enhanced exposure from exhibiting at Australia’s largest ticketed event to attract new customers as well as engage with their target audience. In the Australian fashion market, Proud Poppy has carved out a niche as a playful brand dedicated to offering affordable, on-trend, and inclusive fashion choices for women ranging from size 6 to 30.

Solution

The pop-up store aimed to distinguish itself within the exhibition precinct, enticing attendees to explore its offerings and ultimately guiding them to their point of purchase. To achieve this, our team designed the back wall using the BeMatrix system, creating a visually compelling display with graphics of the models.

A customisable pegboard display wall was incorporated to showcase giveaway items and in addition to this, two fitting rooms were assembled that featured doors and mirrors, mimicking a retail store. The space also incorporated interactive elements such a spinning prize wheel for the competition giveaway and a nostalgic Claw Arcade game to engage with attendees.

Result

The pop-up store experienced remarkable success, drawing in a multitude of customers over the course of the two-week show. As a result, Proud Poppy achieved the esteemed Gold Award at the event, acknowledging their exceptional presentation at the Fashion & Style Pavilion stand. Each year, the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales recognises Commercial Exhibitors with the “Best Exhibits” award, aiming to motivate exhibitors to uphold high standards in presentation, appeal, and personnel during the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
