Quarry to coast for the 63rd IQA National Conference
Brief
This year marked the Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) National Conference’s first appearance in Newcastle at the recently refurbished Newcastle Convention and Exhibition Centre (NEX). The conference has been held in numerous iconic Australian venues since its inception in 1956.
As an industry with a heavy reliance on its ability to pivot, quarrying has introduced a heavy emphasis on sustainability which IQA extended to their suppliers.
IQA approached Creative Hire to provide their 59 exhibitors with a sustainable solution through reuse and repurposing of hire elements along with responsible waste management and minimal additions to landfill.
The organiser required a show build partner capable of providing a diverse range of furniture, precise custom-printed graphics and the option for exhibitors to upgrade their stands.

Challenge
From concept to install, the Creative Hire team worked in close collaboration with the organiser to ensure all exhibitor requirements were fulfilled, as well as delivering on feature areas and registration desk briefs.
All 59 exhibitors had bespoke requirements which Creative Hire had to project manage with precision to ensure all elements were installed accurately within a short turn-around.
Additionally, the organiser required a range of exhibitor hire options including flooring, walling, furniture, counters, signage and audio-visual packages.

Solution
For the entrance, Creative Hire supplied a custom registration desk with in-built storage paired with three-dimensional lettering from our hire range, welcoming delegates to the event.
The team built and furnished 59 exhibitor spaces at the conference which included a mixture of octanorm and beMatrix booth systems to produce a seamless look and feel. All exhibitors required custom signage, with several requesting custom infills or fabric reframe banners for walling. Several exhibitors requested premium stand upgrades and raised flooring to differentiate theirs from other stands.
Additionally, exhibitors had the option to choose from a range of our audio-visual hire solutions for digital presentations and A4 brochure stands for physical marketing collateral.
Result
This year marked the first time IQA engaged Creative Hire to deliver the conference and they were thrilled with the final result.
Exhibitors were pleased with how their brands were represented through the expertise and guidance of our Graphics and Industrial Design teams.
Our hire solutions and focus on reusing and repurposing materials across the conference was an important outcome that contributed to their sustainability initiatives outlined in their 2020 – 2025 Strategic Plan.
